Music For Youth

Music for Youth is a UK national youth music charity working with young people aged 25 and under across the UK. Their vision is to ensure that every young person in the UK can achieve their musical potential by performing the music they love. They believe that music, and the chance to participate in high-quality musical activities, should be open to every young person.

Martyn joined his sister Steph, a full-time member of the MFY staff, during university vacations to help stage-manage these prestigious musical events on London’s South Bank and at the Royal Albert Hall. The photo shows Martyn on stage at the Royal Albert Hall during a break in rehearsals, entertaining the troops with an impromptu piano performance!

For over 50 years, Music for Youth’s annual cycle of regional festivals, local events, a national festival and showcase concerts has made a significant contribution to the music education calendar, bringing together regional providers and young performers, and putting young people’s own achievements into a wider national context.

Keech Hospice

Keech Hospice Care is the adult hospice for Luton and Bedfordshire, and the children's hospice for Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes, providing free, specialist care for adults and children with life-limiting illnesses as well as vital support for their family & friends.

MDMT is proud to fund the vital music therapy work provided to children with life-limiting illnesses. In a music therapy session, the focus is on improvising, so there are no set rules or pieces of music to practice. Sessions can include writing songs, making music CDs, singing, family work, memory making and simply listening to music. During 2023 Keech’s music therapists delivered 511 support sessions to young patients and their families.
